Pop round Canale di Tenno, for a Christmas made up of timeless traditions
The Canale hamlet, part of the Borghi più belli d’Italia list, presents Christmas to you with some evocative vibes and some old genuine flavours.
The markets are the chance for you to recollect the medieval fascination among shepherds and the genuine living nativity scene, and find out a hamlet rich in unspoiled traditions reverberating in the vaults downtown.
Here the Christmas markets (in December they could be lived at their fullest on these days: 3, 4, 8, 9,10, 11, 17 and 18 December 2016 from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm) shows a less “glittering” and resounding, but more authentic, celebration. Where the religious meaning of this celebration is amplified by the beauty of a timeless hamlet.
The hard stone house walls, the barrel vaults connecting the dwellings and the warm golden Christmas lights turns Canale in a proper fairy place where spending a pre-Christmas day.
Inside the cellars that host the stalls full to the brim with local typical products and articles packed by skillful artisans and dabblers with full commitment, you will feel like being back in time… also while eating, tasting a dish of a unique speciality: the carne salada!
And if your legs aren’t tired yet and you want to be overwhelmed by more Christmas vibes we suggest you to get to Calvola for the Mater Dei exhibition by the international artist Cirillo Grott dedicated to motherhood. It’s shown in the San Giovanni Battista church.
I can see the same genuineness my grandmother had in the eyes of those people who offer simple and authentic products from the bottom of their heart; and I also think that strolling out around the Christmas markets in Canale di Tenno are worth giving up wearing my high heels. Maybe, in this “Italy’s beautiful hamlet” the real meaning of Christmas echoes in every stone as a sign of a Christmas spirit bound to live forever.
Christmas in Rango between past and present
In Rango Christmas (these are the days in December: 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 26 and 27 December 2016 from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm) gets all the hints of the past since the dawn of time. A little hamlet with rural roots carved into the mountains, this magic place is included into Italy’s most beautiful hamlets list and is considered a proper jewel because its architectural design has been kept unconverted. Still nowadays it gives the emotion of a rarified atmosphere, suspended between past and present.
In Rango, the most awaited celebration throughout the year becomes a chance to amble around the narrow alleys cooing over the stalls (packed with typical products and local handicraft items) hosted in the halls, porticos, in the courtyards of ancient houses.
During the Christmas markets in the Italy’s most beautiful Trentino hamlets the Pro Ecomuseo della Judicaria association supports a lottery to promote the area managed by the Ecomuseo della Judicaria. Don’t miss the chance to stamp the special postcard you will find here: you will also get a ticket to participate in the ballot for a weekend in one of Italy’s most beautiful hamlets.
Christmas is getting closer and in these two little towns where past is linked with present, traditions are more living than ever.
