Traditional tibits like bigoli, gnocchi, spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, joyful vibes, colorful confetti, music and costumes. Carnival time in Garda Trentino has never been so funny!
There are plenty of not-to-be-missed events to spend the craziest day of the year on the shores of Italy’s biggest lake, surrounded by a cheerful mood!
For those of you who have a sweet tooth the traditional Sbigolada Torbolana is impossible to miss out. On February the 26th, from 12 to 2 pm some good bigoli with lake sardines will be suppliedin Torbole for free. A real speciality!
Another “Sbigolaa” will be held in nearby Nago. This time the sauce is ragout, cooked in a copper kettle. As it has been a tradition for centuries, the last Tuesday of the Carnival period (this year, on the 28th of February from 11 to 1pm) will be devoted to make everybody lick their fingers.
Riva del Garda won’t be less with its Maccheronata di Carnevale, on the 23rd February from 11 to 3.30 pm.
Arco is instead the setting of Carnevalarco, a proper list of Carnival events. The first starts on February, the 18th at 2 pm on the main square, and the last will end on February, the 25th with the traditional float parade among music, comical shows and a big party!
Carnival and its cheerful happiness will gladden the souls, mainly of the little ones, also in Cologna di Tenno: on February, the 28th from 12.30 to 4.30 pm a real party for adults and kids will take place, starting with… a full stomach! With some good pasta with ragout! Following it, clowns and games for everyone! And again in Tenno, there is another not-to-be-missed traditional event: the Sbigolada! This year it will be held on February, the 25th at 3 pm on the main square. You will find bigoi with ragout or sardines and a lot of mulled wine!
We have already gone into the ancient Alto Garda Carnival traditions here with the two celebrations in Varignano and Varone; that’s a clear sign that Garda Trentino has all the colours of this “crazy” festival inside it. A festival which is an anticipation of a spring that seems just round the corner, starting a thaw that slowly anticipates all the coziness of the flower season!
