In Garda Trentino there are lots of agriturismos, malgas (shepherd's huts) and teaching farms where animals live happily surrounded by lush nature rich in different botanical species. Let's discover all together where to go with the kids, on the lookout for the animal world.

Children discovering the animal and plant kingdom.

In Trentino there are lots of agriturismos and malgas where the animals live happily and where the kids can pay a visit to look closely, and sometimes touch, goats, piglets, sheep, hens, geese, ducks and many other animals.

Even in Garda Trentino we find agriturismos and farms where the love and the attention for the animals and their well-being make up the real essence of their activity.

We have chosen to tell you about these magical places where nature and animals come first, and where the colours and the perfumes melt together giving life to a fabulous rainbow of emotions for the little ones (but not only!).

  1. Agritur Laghel 7.Let’s begin here. From this agriturismo which is an integral part of a farm located in an evocative Mediterranean scrub setting. Here you’ll find stables and a teaching farm: thanks to a tutor’s competences, some courses dedicated to schools, but also to groups of youngsters, families and elderly people are offered, based on the model of an active and experimental kind of teaching! Creating groups (of a minimum of 6 people) on reservation, every day of the week it will be possible to plunge into nature, appreciating the olive groves together with a wonderful oil tasting and a bit of food education! How much does it cost? 10€ per person, for a 2-hour course.

  2. Azienda Agricola Biologica Gostner Roberto. The organic farm was founded in 2008 thanks to Roberto and Tina’s passion for nature and animals. Produces vegetables, berries, plums, apples and processed products respecting their seasonality. Goats, chickens and rabbits are raised with attention to their needs. Educational activities for schools and families are possible on appointment, and show interesting crafts like milking process, cheese production, flour milling, and bread making.
  3. Azienda Agricola La Quadra. It is a livestock-fruit company located in Drena. Handed down from father to son for four generations, nowadays they open the door to kids and grownups, for some guided tours of the farm with great improved enthusiasm. They will explain the animal life and how the last transformation of the produce occurs. At the end of the tour a savory tasting of the farm products will await you. Visits on reservation.

  4. Malga Zanga. It is a typical mountain malga located in a very panoramic position on Mount Velo, 11 kilometers far from Arco and at 1100 meters above sea level, in a glade surrounded by beech, larch and fir woods. Here kids could live an astounding experience: an excursion by donkeys up to Mount Creino, and the trench path overlooking the lake! It will last about 3 hours. What’s the absolute news of this year? Only for the little ones there will be the Asinovia (donkey cable car) from Malga Zanga to Rifugio Marchetti, every Friday from June to September.

  5. Rifugio San Pietro. On Mount Calino. From here, you will enjoy a wonderful view. It is worth a trek on itself (pretty easy and suitable for children) towards this mountain hut where the little ones could also see some rabbits and little goats (together with the breathtaking panorama)! A fabulous initiative is “La Scuola nel Bosco” (school in the woods), some motor and sensory itineraries, workshops with the gathered materials, lunch in the hut or packed, some acted readings and much more for the children from 3 to 10. Getting to the hut is like losing themselves in a quaint atmosphere, thanks to the landscape, the environment and the architecture: like the medieval hamlet of Canale di Tenno and Calvola, with their narrow cobbled alleys and the picturesque stone bricks.

Each agriturismo, malga or teaching farm is special on its own. What touches most is watching the passion these places are looked after with by real people who feel a deep love for the nature and the animals. Perhaps kids need this. Losing themselves in the unspoilt nature of the Altogarda woods and live the emotion of a close meeting with the farm animals, to understand the respect for nature and all its living beings.
