Every road leads to Lake Garda Trentino, but some allow you to get there more quickly! Let's find out how to get to the northern tip of Italy's biggest lake, where holidays smell of dreams between centuries-old olive trees and crystal clear waters!

Smartphones, gps devices, every kind of tech equipment. We are in the modern era, and getting to the yearned holiday haunt seems the easiest thing in the world! Well… are we really sure about that?

How to get to Lake Garda Trentino

There are many means of transport that can take you to Lake Garda Trentino: cars, planes, buses, trains, motorbikes, and not to mention bikes!

Let’s begin with three classics

To Lake Garda by car

The fastest way is the A22 (Modena – Brennero) highway. The recommended exit is Rovereto Sud – Lago di Garda Nord, 17 kms far from Riva del Garda.

Notes and suggestions.

For those of you coming from Milan, we suggest not to drive on the western Gardesana road, as you’d risk to meet some traffic jam already in Salò/Gardone. Go on on the A4 highway until the intersection with the A22, and then take the Rovereto Sud exit.

For those coming from the Brenner Pass, the recommended exit is again Rovereto Sud, but if you take the Trento Nord exit and go on on the SS 45b road, there won’t be much traffic and the journey will turn to be more pleasant and panoramic. It’s a 40-kilometer journey and in its first part is goes up and down Mount Bondone.

Why is the car comfortable? Because we can take the (unlikely) shoes we will never put on, or the windsurfing board we are dramatically attached to!

No matter where you are coming from, the suggestion is always the same: verifying the traffic before leaving on the modern navigation tools like Google Maps. For the Trentino area, have a look also on “viaggiare in Trentino” or “Tutto Città“. For those coming from Milan, it’s also important to check not only on Google Maps, but also here or here, to be always updated on the traffic and enjoy your arrival on Lake Garda with a bit more relaxation.

And to find the best way to get everywhere on your mobile or tablet, try Rome2rio. Plane, train, bus, car, ferry, bike sharing, street info by car or on foot, everything together in the same research!

For those coming by train

For those of you coming to Lake Garda by train, the nearest railway station is Rovereto (Brennero route), 20 kms far from Riva del Garda.

To get to Riva del Garda, Torbole or Arco, it’s possible to take the bus (see the timetable).
